So You Think You Can Dance?
The lights are low, the music is pumping and I’m working so hard I’ve got sweat flying from my fingertips. I look up into a crowd of 30 and see a group of people, including my mother and my aunt, moving to music just like they were on the latest dance reality TV show. We’re hopping and turning and moving and grooving to songs new and old, and I don’t think the smile on my face, or theirs, could get any bigger. That’s what it’s like to teach BodyJam.
BodyJam, brought to us by international group exercise company Les Mills, is the cardio workout where you are free to enjoy the sensation of dance. An addictive fusion of the latest dance moves and hottest new sounds, puts the emphasis as much on having fun as breaking a sweat. Funky instructors teach you to move with attitude through this 55-minute class. The music selection combines the hits you’ll hear today on the radio with remakes of old stuff that will bring back memories of other times, and the movements will literally take you away. With dance styles ranging from swing, to house and hip-hop, to salsa and even Japanese line-dancing BodyJam brings you a dance experience that is unique, and a workout that will change your body. The moves are built together in layers, which make the combinations easy to learn and accomplish, and the new releases come out every three months, so you have plenty of time to master the workout.
